Gladys L. Liggett
94, of the Country Club Center and formerly of Filmore Ave., Dover died Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Union Hospital at Dover. She was formerly an employee of Sparta Ceramic Tile Co. at East Sparta. She had previously been a factory worker at the Boeing Airplane Factory when she resided in California. Born Sept. 14, 1918 in Aurora, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Eura and Elizabeth (Miller) Hostetler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, James McGinnis and her husband, Gerald Liggett along with two brothers, Roy and Dennis Hostetler and four sisters, Ruth Corder, Anna Hannel, Fern Brown, and Cora Studer. Gladys attended Aurora High School and graduated from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School in 1936. She was a life member of the Dover VFW and it's Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her family including her two daughters, Geraldine (Ronald) Kiehl of Dover and Patti Mallernee of Cary, N.C.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; along with two sisters, Vera Gray of Columbus and Arlene Hershberger of Sugarcreek.
A funeral service celebrating Gladys' life will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2013 beginning at 11 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
