Helen (Sobala) Daugherty
93, of Carrollton passed away Saturday morning June 22, 2013 in the Carroll Golden Age Retreat. Daughter of the late Albert and Kathryn Kobylski Sobala, she was born June 16, 1920 in Amsterdam, Ohio. Helen was a 1938 graduate of Carrollton High School and went on to attend and graduate from Raedel Business College. She retired from Surety Rubber in Carrollton and was a member of the Carrollton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Carollton Eagles and served as a foster grandparent at Carrollton Schools and St. John's Villa.
She is survived by a niece, Ronda Sobala Bland of Houston, Texas; nephew, Ron Sobala of Houston, Texas; great-nephew, Chase Sobala. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers, Carl, Alex, Henry, Walter, Frank, Joseph; and her husband, Albert "Ab" Daugherty.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
