Helen Mae Gordon
85 formerly of Manchester and Dover went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Helen was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., was a graduate of Jackson High School and attended Toccoa Falls Bible College. Years of service building the Kingdom- being a great mother and grandmother to many, she helped to build four churches. Helen spent a lifetime teaching Sunday school, was a longtime member and supervisor for the day care and preschool at the former Manchester Trinity Chapel.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michal; parents, Norman and Cora Kimel; sister, Lorene Laughman. She is survived by her children, Martha (John) Gross and Attorney Paul (Rosamond) Gordon; grandchildren, Ben Gross and Jacob (Stephanie) Gross; brother, Max Kimel; sisters, Carolyn Black and Doris Laughman; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service WEDNESDAY 11 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rte. 93, Canal Fulton) with Pastor Jerry Harpool, officiating and where friends may call WEDNESDAY one hour prior to time of service. Private burial will be held at Dover Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E. Market St., Akron , OH 44308 or the Salvation Army.
