J. Lynn Korns
70, of Rome, New York and formerly of Dover and Strasburg Ohio died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 following an extended illness. Born on Jan. 10, 1944 in Dover, he was the son of the late James and Frances (Manley) Korns.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Scott, a brother, Robert and a sister, Doris Hostetler.
Lynn retired in 2010 as a metallurgist engineer with the Rome Strip Steel Company. He was the former Vice President of Greer Steel Company in Dover. Lynn was a 1962 graduate of Dover High School having played basketball for the Tornadoes. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati. He was a member of Tuscarawas Masonic Lodge #59 in Dover and member of the Benevolent Society in Rome, New York. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Strasburg. He was an avid Syracuse basketball fan and loved to play golf. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of nearly 25 years, Karen (Dallas) Korns whom he married on April 29; three children, Todd (Kathy) Korns of Dover, Becky (Dave) Grasselli of New Philadelphia and Ursula Margazano of Essex Junction, Vt; four grandchildren, Stella, Zoe, Scott and Kyle.
A celebration of Lynn's life will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014 beginning at 11 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m..
