James L. Frantz
age 68 of Dover, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014 in his residence. A son of the late Delbert W. and Ruth E. (Cookson) Frantz, Jim was born at Dover, Ohio Feb. 28, 1945. He attended New Philadelphia High School and began working for Frantz Grinding at New Philadelphia and ultimately retired from Dover Hydraulics, where he was employed as a machinist. Jim was a NASCAR enthusiast who was especially fond of #3, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He was a member of the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 510 and in in his younger years enjoyed golfing at Five Waters.
He is survived by his children, James D. Frantz and Jennifer Frantz; a granddaughter, Taylor Johns, all of New Philadelphia; three brothers, D. Jerry (Nancy) Frantz of New Philadelphia, Gene (Joyce) Frantz of Dover, and Joe (Kay) Frantz of New Philadelphia; close friends, Carl Haupert of Port Washington and Ben Cookson, III of New Philadelphia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a niece, Gale Stephens.
In keeping with Jim's wishes there will be no public services. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib's Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
