John A. Hays
64, of Bolivar, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at 7:30 a.m. in his residence after an extended illness. Born March 15, 1949 in Alliance he was the son of Ina (McCreadie) Hays of Alliance and the late Harry Hays. He was retired from Hays Pest Control which he owned and operated for many years. John was a veteran of the US Army and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His wife the former Holly Lynn Myers preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2004.
He is survived by a daughter, Holly Jean Hays, a granddaughter, Leia M. Hays and a grandson, Jacob D. Hays, all of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a sister, Jean Hays of Amherst; and dear friends, Jim and Tina Moore of New Philadelphia, Rachel Ashbaugh of Bolivar, Robert Potts of New Philadelphia and Meghan and Bob Basile of Alliance.
A celebration of John's life and time of sharing will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave., Bolivar. The Bolivar American Legion will conduct military honors at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at a later date in Alliance City Cemetery.
