John J. Racketa, Sr.
age 82, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 in Bolivar, Ohio. He was born Feb. 11, 1930 in Sharpsville, Pa. to the late Paul and Louise Racketa. John enjoyed working crossword puzzles, fishing, and especially rod making and fly tying. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and past member of Kiwanis. John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Beloved father of Martha Racketa and Denise (Dan) Kern; and father-in-law of Michele Racketa; loving grandfather of Alex, Michael, Laura, Thomas, Neil, Kaleigh and Brandy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Gatten) to whom he was married 50 years; son, John Racketa, Jr.; grandson, Paul; sister, Louise Toth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Fr. Thomas E. Stock will officiate. Burial St. Francis Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina.
