Joyce Ann (Shaw) Ely
62, of Sugarcreek went home to be with her Savior on July 24 in the Hospice House in New Phila after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Marion Ohio April 4, 1951. Joyce was the daughter of Loyal and Barbara Shaw and the late Jean Shaw. She pursued a degree in education from Malone College which lead to her teaching Art at Garaway and at the Windhom Correctional Facility in Texas. She spent her free time sewing, for friends and at the Berry Fit Company. She loved being a 4-H advisor for many years. If there is one thing that people will remember Joyce for, was her strong walk with Christ and her ministry through her illness.
She will be missed by her son, Jason (Heather) Ely; daughter, Dana (Ben) Ely; and grandchildren, Justin, Meghan and McKinnley; brother, Tom (Marilyn) Shaw, Margaret Shaw, Kathy (Bill) Stevens and Becky (Ray) Miller; several nieces and nephews.
A dinner celebration of Joyce's life will be Friday Aug. 2, 2013, 5-9 p.m. at New Phila. Nazarene Church 233 Fair Ave NE.
