Kenneth H. John
Age 95, of East Canton, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, in his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Augusta Township, Carroll County, to the late Hiram and Jesse (Leeper) John. Kenneth was a life resident of East Canton; and a 1936 graduate of Louisville High School. He was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in the A Company 15th. Armored Infantry Battalion under the command of General George Patton and was awarded five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He retired from Hercules Engines after 37 years of service; and was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Z. John in 2007. He is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Nancy and Larry Morris of East Canton, Susan Davis of Corpus Christi, Texas, Merri A. Gensley of Bolivar; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Suzi John of West Chester, Ohio; six grandchildren: Susan Bernal, Teren Muchoney, Trisha Growe, Sarah Huber, David John and Missy Hengartner; seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Kenneth's extended family and many kind neighbors, Dr. Catherine Tabb, Alliance Visiting Nurses and Hospice, and his church family at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church for their wonderful care and visits.
A memorial service will be Tuesda,y Feb. 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church at 108 E. Walnut St., East Canton, OH 44730, with Pastor Tim Monteith officiating. Friends may call one hour before services at the church (10-11 a.m.). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alliance Hospice. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at:
