Passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at his home in Tampa, Fla. He is survived by his special companion, Joann Purviance of Tampa and her three children; his grandmother, Billie Faye Davis; a sister, Ella Melito, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and niece and nephew, Olivia and Aiden. Brooks was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Dalton, and grandfather, Howard Davis. Brooks was born in West Virginia on Dec. 1, 1968. He was a selfless individual known by his friends and family as a man with a heart the size of the earth. He had a strong compassion for music, animals and vintage vans. His sister was his idol for her work in the United States Peace Corp in Kostanai, Kazakhstan. He graduated from Dover High School in 1987 where he later went on to earn his Occupational Associates Degree at the National Aviation Academy in Clearwater, Florida. He earned his FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification in 2009, which is currently the most difficult certification for an aviation mechanic to earn. Brooks will be remembered as a loving brother and an empathetic, generous friend. He has gone too soon, but his memory will live on in our hearts.
There will be a memorial service for Brooks in Tampa, Fla., there will also be a memorial service in Ohio in the Spring of 2013. Anyone interested in attending can contact Ken Amos at:
