Rev. Max A. Schwindt
71, of Groton, Conn., passed away Monday, March 5, 2012. Born in Coshocton, Ohio he grew up in West Lafayette, Ohio, where he attended the local high school. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University, and attended seminary at Drew University in Madison, N.J. After ordination as a Methodist minister he served churches in Middle Village, Queens, and in East Hampton, Long Island. A nature and bowling enthusiast, Max was active until Parkinson's Disease limited his abilities.
He is survived by his two children, David Schwindt, MD, of Mystic, Conn., and Jennifer Schwindt of Sarasota, Fla.; his sister, Dorothy Davis of West Lafayette, Ohio; his brother, Charles Schwindt, MD of Marco Island, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Alex and Kiara Schwindt. He was predeceased by his sister, Janie Craigo, as well as by his parents, Hazel (Russell) Schwindt, and Howard Schwindt, MD, who started the first primary care practice in West Lafayette.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the West Lafayette United Methodist Church, 120 West Main Street. The burial will be private, and there are no calling hours. The Given-Dawson Funeral Home in West Lafayette has charge of arrangements.
