81, of Goodrich, Mich., and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away Feb. 15, 2014 after a short illness. A daughter of the late Ralph and Minnie (Penrod) Rowan, Norma was born Aug. 24, 1932 at Midvale, Ohio. Norma was a long standing member of the Midvale United Methodist Church. She loved writing and often wrote poems for her grandchildren, and loved playing with her great-granddaughter, Natalie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dwane H. Smith Jr., and she has left behind her three sons, Danny (Goodrich, Mich.), Thomas (and Marie, Goodrich, Mich.), Ralph (Sue, Linden, Mich.); her four grandchildren, Alicia, Emily, Ashley and Angela, and great- granddaughter, Natalie.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Midvale United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the church with Pastor Lyle Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at the church following the committal service.
