"Together Again"Thomas Wayne VanFossen
age 86, of 507 Ashton Street, Holloway, died at 12 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 in Barnesville Health Care Center, Barnesville, Belmont County, Ohio. Born Aug. 17, 1926 in Belmont County, Ohio, he was a son of the late Wayne Namone VanFossen and Josephine Mosslander VanFossen. Tom attended Holloway High School and joined the army when he was seventeen. After serving four years in the army, on Sept. 14, 1947 in New Athens, Ohio he married his wife, Eva Jean Bradley VanFossen. She died May 14, 2007. He retired from Baltimore and Ohio and CSX Railroad, Holloway after forty-three years working as a brakeman. Tom was a member of the Holloway United Methodist Church, Freeport Masonic Lodge #415, Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, St. Clairsville VFW, Flushing American Legion, and Holloway Old Timers Association. He was in charge of the horseshoe tournaments for years.
Surviving are three daughters and a son, Connie (Ralph) Fritter of Holloway, Rena (Jerry) Taylor of Barnesville, Becky (Doug) Koscoe of Cambridge, and Tom (Lee Ann) VanFossen of New Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren, Rick (Jenny) Taylor, Tami (Bill) Huntsman, Ralph Lee (Missy) Fritter, Stephen (Maggie) Fritter, Annette (Joe) Aamodt, Kevin (Heather) Hodkinson, Dawn (Eric) Hickle, Jason (Jess) Hodkinson, Ellie Koscoe, Amy (Zach) Mason, Travis (Kelly) VanFossen, Stefanie Reidl, Justin VanFossen; 26 great-grandchildren, Chase Huntsman, Paige Huntsman, Luke Taylor, Vince Taylor, Thomas Fritter Doane, Katie Fritter, Jonathan Fritter, Lydia Fritter, Meaghan Aamodt, Joey Aamodt, Cameron Hickle, Logan Hickle, Cody Hickle, Breauhnna Hickle, Dillion Hodkinson, Cassie Hodkinson, Aubre Hodkinson, Waylon Hodkinson, Brayden and Paityn VanFossen, Landyn Reidl, Braxtyn VanFossen, Maddox James Mason, Beaux Clark, and Scarlet Clark; two brothers, Wayne (Linda) VanFossen of Holloway and Gary (Karen) VanFossen of Willowick; a sister, Doty Lurty of Willowick; a brother-in-law, Dorsey Roy of Canton. In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank A. Hodkinson in 1985 and two sisters, Betty Chase and Marion Roy.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S. High Street, Freeport with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 also in the funeral home with Pastor Al Hoder and Jack Morgan officiating. Military service and burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Holloway United Methodist Church or Holloway Volunteer Fire Department.
