Virginia A. Landis
90, of Dover, Ohio, formerly of West Lafayette, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Hennis Care Center, Dover. She was born July 24, 1923, in Newcomerstown to the late Ernest A. and Dora (Bourne) Couts. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ of Christian Union. She was an avid collector of dolls and enjoyed gardening. In 1941, she married Rosel H. Tennant, who passed away Nov. 27, 1955. On Nov. 28, 1959, she married Homer Landis who passed away Jan. 3. 1981.
She is survived by two daughters, Lesa (Terry) Lawrence of Dover, Linda (Willard) Watson of Port Washington; a son, Harold L. (Nancy) Tennant of Newcomerstown; a step-daughter, Debbie Riley of Coshocton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Couts of Newcomerstown. Virginia and Homer also had 17 foster kids. She was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Marlene Alise; a grandchild, Frankie Stull; a great-grandchild, Guy Stull Jr.; a sister, Dorotha Eggleston; three brothers, Willard, Walter, and Glen Couts.
Services will be Monday, June 9, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown with Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Addy Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to
