W. Gary Cramblett

W. Gary Cramblett
71, of Tappan Lake, passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Carriage Inn of Cadiz after years of declining health. Despite the challenges he faced through his medical disabilities, Gary lived his life to the fullest, always with a positive attitude, and leaves a lasting legacy to his family through their shared memories of a life well-lived. Born March 25, 1943 in Dennison, he was a son of Edna N. (Brooks) Cramblett of Scio and the late Warren Glen Cramblett. A 1961 graduate of Scio High School, Gary was a local resident throughout his life with the exception of the years that he spent serving his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, from 1964 to 1966. Upon returning home from the service, he worked with his father's excavating company for a number of years, as well as at PPG in Barberton. He will be most remembered as a co-owner of the Tappan Lake Marina for many years until his health prevented him. He was a former member and past chief of the Tappan Lake Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Scio American Legion, and a ten year member of the Harrison County Fair Board.
On June 23, 1973, he married the former Cathy A. Holleyoak who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their two daughters, Kari Welch of Venice, Florida and Jen (Amanda Zinkon) Cramblett of Uniontown; grandchildren, Chase and Logan Welch of Venice and Payton Zinkon of Uniontown; a sister, Carol (Lynn) Davy of Scio; brother, Alan (Sydney) Cramblett of Scio; half-sister, Cindy Strawderman of Sherrodsville; step-siblings, Linda Compher of New Rumley and Larry (Barrett) McMillen of Dover; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Sandy and Dick Henry of Tappan Lake and Jane and George Kryston of St. Clairsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Gary, officiated by Rev. Mark Unrue, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Tappan Lake. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
