67 of Fresno, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born Friday, April 12, 1946 in Coshocton to the late William and Nettie (Gray) Bassett. He was a graduate of Coshocton High School, He served in the Ohio National Guard from 1963 until 1964 and then the US Army from 1964 until 1967, and returned to the Ohio National Guard serving from 1970 until 1992. He retired from Dominion Transmission Inc. of Gilmore in 2004. He was a member of the NRA.
On Saturday Sept. 12, 1970, he married Barbara (Durbin) Bassett who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Eric Bassett of Fresno, Jared (Lori) Bassett of Newcomerstown; one daughter, Amy (William) Neal of New Phila.; five grandchildren; three sisters, Sue (Kenny Lippencott) Dovenbarger of Coshocton, Nancy (Tom) Jacobs of St. Mary's, Ga., Barbara Howell of Hudson, Fla.; one brother, Tim (Martha) Bassett of Coshocton.
Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Addy Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Main officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Addy Funeral Home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
