Jody Cummings Obituary

Cummings
53, of Fishers, Ind. and formerly of Dover, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014. Born June 9, 1961 at Dover, Jody was a daughter of Harry Robert and Barbara A. (Burkhart) Thompson of Dover. She graduated from Dover High School in 1979.
Jody will always be remembered by her husband of 33 years, Kurt M. Cummings; her three daughters, Kassidy L. (Mark) Vann, Jordan E. (Dustin) Hall, and Janelle M. (Travis) Settlemyre; and two granddaughters, Avery Elyse Vann and Harper Anne Settlemyre, for her lifelong devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her unwavering grace, love, and commitment to her family will be forever missed.
Jody was a member of Northview Church in Carmel, Ind. Her faith was nurtured through many Christian experiences and she lived it daily, whether it was caring for her family or a perfect stranger. Jody lived and served with grace and an amazing sense of humility and anonymity. Her mission of love and outreach to the inner city will be missed by all. She continued to give after her passing as an organ donor. Her gift will provide life, sight, and restored health to numerous people.
Additionally, Jody will be deeply missed by her two sisters, Liz (John) Nelson and Audra (Jim) Miceli; nieces and nephews, Dirk (Jacey) Nelson, Kyle Nelson, Ethan Nelson, Kristin Miceli, and Anthony Miceli; great-nephew, Tristan Nelson; and her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Janice Cummings of Dennison. In addition, Jody poured her love over numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces in the Cummings family.
A private service for family will be held Friday, Dec. 19 at the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald Rice, Jr. officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be catered in the hospitality room. Flower arrangements or a charitable contribution in Jody's honor are welcome. Financial donations may be sent to Northview Church, 12900 Hazel Dell Parkway-Carmel, Ind. 46033. Please designate "Cummings Memorial" in the memo line, and all proceeds will benefit Brookside Inner City Outreach in Indianapolis, Ind.
