Vera Louise Hill
79, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2015 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health. A daughter of the late Clarence and Grace (Schwartz) Lahmers, Vera was born Oct. 21, 1935 at Canton, Ohio. Vera graduated from Dover High School in 1955. During high school she worked at Bond's Shoe Store. She was also formerly employed as an administrative assistant at Shenango. On June 10, 1961 in Sharon Moravian Church, she married the love of her life, Harry Edward Hill. Together the couple raised two children, Victor and Nadine. She currently attended Dover Bible Church and was a former member of Sharon Moravian Church. Vera was a former past president of the Dover Band Boosters and held that position at the time of the Inaugural Dover Band Craft Show. She was also a former advisor of the Winfield Happy Hustlers 4-H club. Vera enjoyed planting flowers and gardening but most of all she cherished her family and taking care of them.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Hill; her son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Angela Hill of Dover and their children, Brittany, Danielle and Ethan; her daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Joe Woodhall of Dover and their children, Morgan and Mitchell and a sister, Noreen Lahmers of Dover.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Vera's life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor David Carroll officiating. Burial will following in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery at Tuscarawas.
