Bernard Lawless Obituary

Bernard J.
"Barney" Lawless
age 79, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 20, 1934, at Dover, he was s son of the late Bernard Francis and Bessie Aubihl Lawless. He went on to study at John Carroll University at Cleveland and the University of Detroit, graduating from Detroit with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Barney returned to Dover to work at the business founded by his father and grandfather, Dover Tank & Plate Company, ultimately becoming its president. A licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio since 1963, Barney was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He served on the boards of numerous business and community organizations. For Barney, work was his hobby, but he did consider himself an "occasional golfer," and greatly enjoyed outings with his family. Cruises were another get-away, and he and Margaret visited the Caribbean by ship as well as Europe their visit to the Sistine Chapel at Vatican City was very special.

My condolences to all the family and my apology. I just found out. I would definitely have been there for Mr. Lawless had I known. In my 42 years in Dover, I found him always to be a loyal, honest and truly Christian man. I will miss him. It is difficult for me to think of St. Joe's with out him.
Again, my condolences and apology for missing a final good bye.

Dear Barney Lawless Family,
My association with Barney was between our companies, OSCO Industries and Dover Tank. It came about when I needed to find a trustworthy, capable steel fabricator/engineer to help us further our growth. I visited Dover Tank and immediately found those people and company there. I enjoyed my working with Barney and David, and know it was a fair and beneficial relationship for both our companies. Rest in peace, Barney. Your friend, Gary Fisher

Barney and I are so saddened by Uncle Barney's passing. The years go by so quickly...it seems just yesterday he and Aunt Peggy were here vacationing in Florida several times a year. We have many happy memories of that time and all the years we spent in Ohio as well.

Sorry to hear of Barney's passing. I still have a note that he wrote me 38 years ago before a football game. It was a small gesture but, positively impacted a 17 year old kid. He won't be forgotten.
