Eddie L. "Spark" Mills
age 83, of Dover, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015.
Born January 4, 1932, in Midvale, he was a son of the late Raymond Sr. and Lillian (Cole) Mills. Eddie graduated in 1950 from Midvale High School, and was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired from AK Reeves Steel. Eddie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dover where he served as usher and trustee. He was a former member of the J.B. Easley Masonic Lodge, serving as secretary. One of his favorite pastimes was woodworking.
Eddie will be sadly missed by his wife of sixty-four years, Shirley (Kelker) Mills, whom he married on April 1, 1951; his daughter, Barbara Bolden of Indianapolis; his sons, Eddie Jr. of Atlanta, Jeffery (Regina) of Green, and J. Christopher (Lois) Mills of Dover; his grandchildren, Timothy Bolden of Long Beach, California, Rachel (Andre) Bellamy of Indianapolis, Nathan (Rachel) Mills of Watertown, Massachusetts, Kallee and Jordan Mills, both of Dover; his eight great-grandchildren; his brother, James (Evelyn) Mills of Dover; his sisters, Elsie White also of Dover, and Annie (Joseph) Lowery of New Philadelphia; his nieces and nephews; and his long-time friend, Robert Sherrell of Dover.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Jr. and Robert L. Mills.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 30, at 11 a.m., in the First Baptist Church, 140 Regent Street, with Pastor Christopher Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
