Anna Marie Pruni
50, of Deer Lodge, Tenn., and formerly of Dover, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, in her home following a brief illness. Anna Marie was a retired police officer. She was a former Police Officer of the Year for the North Port, Florida Police Department. She was also an officer for the Pittsburgh, PA., and Weirton, W.Va. Police Departments in her career. She became interested in law enforcement at an early age. While residing on McKinley Ave. in Dover, she loved nothing more than reclining on the couch with a snack watching episodes of Charlie's Angels. She was the first female baseball player in the Dover Little League. Following retirement, she enjoyed her log cabin home that overlooked the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. Born Nov. 2, 1963, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Adeline "Lee" (Battista) Pruni. She received her Associates degree in criminal justice from Kent State University.
Anna Marie is survived by three brothers and a sister: Dr. Stephen (Shelagh) Pruni of Dover, Marianne (Jon) Gross of Bath, Ohio, Larry (Barb) Pruni and David (Michelle) Pruni both of Dover; a godson, Dillon Cervi of New Cumberland, W.Va.; six nieces and nephews: Stephen, Anthony, Micheil, Adele, Joseph and Lauren Pruni; and step-niece, Jenna. She was also a great friend to many and was especially close to her cousins, Ben and Mary Jo (Marino) Johnston and their children, William and Anthony of Knoxville, Tenn.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating.
