Bernard Sharrock
age 87, of West Lafayette, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. He was born Sunday, July 31, 1927 in Newcomerstown to the late Earl and Jessie (Kernes) Sharrock. He was a 1946 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. After he graduated, he joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Japan as a Military Police Officer at the end of World War II. He was a member of the Newcomerstown Moose and VFW and was also a volunteer fireman in Canal Lewisville. He retired in 1989 from Ohio Power in Newcomerstown and Coshocton.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie Baker and her husband, Jim of Newcomerstown; his son, Rick of West Mifflin, Pa.; his step-daughter, Roxanne Slaughter and her husband, Carson of Coshocton; his stepson, Richard "Dick" March and his wife, Mary of Hinckley, and his brothers, Richard and his wife, Carol of Elyria and Max of Newcomerstown; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine (Williams) Sharrock on March 17, 2013, his step-daughter, Dona Kees in 1997, his brothers, Chet and Raymond and his sisters, Marjorie Stocker and Mildred Grady.
Services will be on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Addy Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Reed officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery where the Newcomerstown Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice House, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663. My belated condolences. I enjoyed getting to know Bernie (and Maxine--who I already knew from her days in Canal Lewisville) as I went with my folks to the VFW over the years. We sometimes talked about Coshocton history and places.

Bernard was such a sweet man.. I have mowed his grass for several years now. I enjoyed listening to his stories every week. He will be missed greatly.
