67, of Mineral City (New Cumberland), died Sunday Oct. 13, 2013 of an apparent heart attack in Iron River, Mich., while on a hunting trip. Born March 18, 1946 in Canton he was a son of the late Herb and Connie (Christian) Scott. He retired from the former Republic Steel Co. at Massillon after 30 years and was also employed at Moorman Feeds at Canton, Graber Mills at Canton and he formerly owned and operated the Derrick Inn at Magnolia. He was also the Head Chef at Big Bear Lodge at Iron River, Mich. He loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He was Protestant by Faith, was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and served as a trustee with the Tuscarawas County Coon Hunters Association.
He is survived by his wife the former Judy Hockenberry whom he would have celebrated 33 years of marriage with next Friday, Oct. 18th. Also surviving are his children, Bruce N. (Sue) Scott II of New Philadelphia, Kelly (Robert) Miller of Wilmot, Frances (Tim) Oliver of New Philadelphia, Richard (Rochelle) Ferren of East Sparta, Shelly (John) Anderson of Malvern and Shane (Jenna) Scott of Louisville; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, April (companion Joyce Tudor) Scott and two brothers Alan (Kay) Scott of Grove City and Rick (Carrie) Hampton of Massillon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Scott and a brother, Daniel Scott.
Funeral services will be held Friday Oct. 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Warren Township Community Building (former New Cumberland School) in New Cumberland. Burial will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave. Bolivar and one hour prior to services at the community center on Friday.
