Chalmers Dale "Bub" Burdette
61, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born Jan. 9, 1952 in Dennison, he was a son of Harry Jr. and Mina B. (Beamer) Burdette. A lifelong resident of the area, Bub grew up on his family's farm near Tippecanoe. He began his thirty-nine year career in the local soft drink bottling industry at the former Coca-Cola bottling plant in Dennison before spending many years at the Pepsi-Cola bottling plant until his retirement in December of 2012. An avid outdoorsman, Bub loved hunting and was a member of the Twin City Sportsman's Club. He also enjoyed working on cars. He was a longtime member of Bethel Worship Center in Uhrichsville where he served his congregation as a deacon. He dearly loved his church family and cherished many fond memories of working and traveling with the youth.
On June 25, 1971, Bub married the former Janet M. Winzenried who survives him at their home. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Jason D. (Natalie) Burdette of Dennison; a daughter, Heather (Wes) Vandine of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Josten, Jakyha and Marissa Burdette; siblings, Mary (Ron) Wright of Uhrichsville, Ida (companion, Allen) Simpson of Attleboro, Mass., Steve (companion, Martha) Burdette of Tippecanoe and Liz (Tim) Meade of Tippecanoe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Beamer and Lizzie Beamer Brown; paternal grandparents, Harry and Blanche Burdette; and his beloved wolf-shepherd companion, Luke.
Services for Bub, officiated by Pastor John Stevenson, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville's Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Friday. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
