Charles J. Hall
79, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 8:45 p.m. in Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a period of declining health. Born Sept. 4, 1935 in Bolivar he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Grove) Hall. Charles was a retired machinist at the former Wein United Company at Canton after 30 years. He was protestant by faith and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and gardening. His wife the former Cletus Burkhart preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1993.
Surviving are three daughters Sally (Dave) Osburn of Somerdale, Charlotte (Russ) Sweany of Florida and Bonita Parr of New Phiadelphia; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother Lee Hoover and companion Cristy of Canton; a daughterin-law Janet Gill of Canton and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter Sherri Hall, two step sons, Roy and Larry Gill, a son-in-law Russell Parr and a sister Delores Glasgow.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at Bolivar. Pastor Brian Flood will officiate and burial will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery at Bolivar where the Bolivar American Legion will conduct military honors.
