Floyd M. Haines
86, of Newcomerstown, Ohio passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at Park Village Health Care Center, Dover from an extended illness. He was the son of the late Floyd W. and Mary (Kenney) Haines, born in Shinston, W.Va. On Sept. 6, 1927. On Sept. 19, 1948, he married Lucy A. Reifenschneider who survives. He served in the USCG during World War II aboard a sub chaser. He returned to Newcomerstown to finish high school and graduated with the class of 1946. He worked at Haver Electric as an electrician for 10 years and retired from Frank Johnson Electric Company after 37 years. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Stone Creek where he served as an Elder. Taught Sunday school for many years and served in many church capacities over the years. He was a former member of RVICS (Roving Volunteers in Christ Service) and also The Nazarene Work & Witness Organization, traveling over the country doing volunteer Mission work along with his wife. He was a former pilot and loved flying and had built several homebuilt airplanes.
He is also survived by three children, Holly (Larry) Hatcher of Stone Creek, John (Bonita) Haines and Wayne (Phyllis) Haines all of Newcomerstown; five grandchildren; five step- grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step great- grandchildren; one brother -in-law, Earl Reifenschneider. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Haines and foster sister, Ruth Seevers.
Services will be Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Grace Community Church, Stone Creek with Pastor Paul Houdashelt officiating. Burial will be in Stone Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. before the service. Online condolences may be made at
