Freda Vaughn
Age 90, of Millersburg, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Freda was born to John and Edna (Estep) Dowalter on Feb. 3, 1924, in Walnut Creek Twp., Holmes County Ohio and was raised by Celsus and Esther Mast of Berlin. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1943; and married Fred Vaughn on Dec. 26, 1953. Fred preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1985. Freda was a beautician for many years and started working in the Dietary Department at Joel Pomerene Hospital on Oct. 23, 1967. She was a member of the Holmesville Church of Christ. She loved to feed and watch the birds, and enjoyed going out to eat at restaurants with family and friends. Freda loved the Lord and preached the importance of church, the bible and family.
She has three daughters and one son; Amy (Scott) Simmons, Carla (Greg) Guthrie, Rex (Pam) Vaughn and Cheryl (James) Whitman all of Millersburg, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren; Freda had three brothers, Theodore, Fred and Robert; two sisters, Lena and Mary Jane; and two step-sisters, Charlotte and Connie. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Joclyn Renee Whitman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Holmesville Church of Christ with Don Campbell officiating. Burial will be at the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Ohio. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to LifeCare Hospice, 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.
The family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to LifeCare Hospice and to the nursing staff at Sycamore Run for all the love, care and support they showed towards Freda.
