Gary Ray
60, of Carrollton, died Monday afternoon Nov. 26, 2012 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 2, 1952 in Canton, Ohio, he was a son of Dale Ray of Carrollton and the late Eloise Dusenberry Ray who died Oct. 15, 2012. Gary was employed at Guess Motors of Carrollton for 22 1/2 years where he was currently the used car manager. He was a member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church, the Carroll County VETS Club where he had served as manager, and a former member of the Carrollton Jaycees. Gary loved his family, many friends and of course, his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, the former Vicki Sheldon whom he married Aug. 15, 1989; four daughters, Traci (BJ) Bryant of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Meghan (Storm) Hill of Carrollton, Mackenzie Ray of the home, Mallory Ray of the home; one brother, Greg (Sandy) Ray of Carrollton; one grandson, Cori Ray of Myrtle Beach, S.C. To honor Gary it is requested that all friends and family attending funeral visitation or services wear Ohio State apparel or scarlet and grey for Gary and the Buckeyes.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home at Carrollton with Rev. Dan Loomis officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery at Carrollton. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gary's memory may be made to Community Hospice of Carroll County at Trump Rd., Carrollton, OH 44615.
