Janice Margaret Colvin
84, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, while surrounded by her loving family. Born Oct. 10, 1929 in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late William R. and Margaret (Jones) Frew. A resident of Uhrichsville for over 50 years, Janice had previously lived in New Philadelphia where she grew up and was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School in the class of 1947. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was employed as a clerk at Harts Family Center for many years, and was a devoted pet owner who truly loved her cats. On Dec. 5, 1959, Janice married Richard "Sonny" Colvin with whom she enjoyed over 35 years of marriage until his passing on June 30, 1995.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy Waltz of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; stepsons, Rick (Debbie) Colvin of New Philadelphia, Steve (Laura) Colvin of Uhrichsville and Donnie (Karen) Colvin of New Philadelphia; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Karen Conrad Hines; a granddaughter, Tisha Conrad; and three brothers, William Frew, Jack Frew and Elwood Shidaker; as well as her parents and husband.
Services for Janice, officiated by Elder Patricia Spears, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 and the Tuscarawas County Humane Society Cat Shelter, 6895 Dover-Zoar Rd., Dover, OH 44622.
