John L. "Jack"
Insley Jr.
83, of Dover, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 in the Community Hospice House following an extended illness. Born Dec. 27, 1929 in Dennison, he was a son of the late John and Delores Gatchel Insley Sr. He was also preceded in death by his son in law, Victor LaCreta.
Jack retired from Reeves Steel after 29 years of service as a Steel Salesman. Jack was a 1947 graduate of Dover High School and received his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and ultimately his master's of business degree from B.G. as well. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict with the US Navy. He was a member of the Tadmor Temple in Akron, Masonic Lodge #59 in Dover and while in college he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Jack was an outgoing and generous man who could easily make friends wherever he went; he was an avid golfer and was a big supporter of Junior Achievement. He also enjoyed traveling or just spending some quality time with his stepdaughters and step-grandchildren.
Jack will be sadly missed by his wife and caregiver, Anita Trotter Insley with whom he would have celebrated 19 years of marriage Nov. 8, 2013; step daughters, Melissa LaCreta of Beach City and Julie (David) Whyel of Wooster; adoptive daughter, Stacee (Todd) Wise of New Philadelphia; step grandchildren, Nicholas and Chelsea Specht and Brynn Whyel; and special friends Gordon (Brenda) Kelly of Tuscarawas.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Dover Burial Park with Pastor Duane Quesenberry officiating. There are no calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
