Lorne James
age 50, of 1104 North Uhrich St., Uhrichsville died at 10:11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 in Mercy Medical Center, Canton from complications following various heart/lung surgeries. Born Oct. 29, 1962 in Cambridge, Guernsey County Ohio, he was a son of Karen Lee Barger VanFossen of New Philadelphia and the late James Richard VanFossen who died August 21, 2012. Lorne was a 1981 graduate of Lakeland High School and attended the Belmont Joint Vocational School for carpentry. He was a Master finish carpenter and stair builder. He worked for seventeen years for L. J. Smith Company of Bowerston and was currently employed for the past nine years at Heartland Stairway in Holmesville. He played guitar for the following bands: Aereon, Mix, Acoustic Grace, and Mike Albert and the Big E Band, and many more. He was the major influence in the founding of the organization "A Christmas To Cure Cancer." He was a staunch supporter and musician on all live and studio projects. He loved his Koi Pond, was a major Mr. Fix-It around the house, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and was willing to help anyone with any repair or remodeling projects. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend and especially a loving and supportive father to his children, being a major influence in his son's music career. He was a model Christian for all who knew him and his faith never faltered during his various health and personal struggles. He attended NewPointe Church of Dover.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Samuel James VanFossen of Nashville, Tenn.; and a daughter, Quinci Carlene VanFossen of Uhrichsville; a brother, Scott Richard (Tammy) VanFossen of Uhrichsville; and two sisters, Cheri Lynn (Randy) Heisler of Goose Creek, S.C. and Andrea Jill (Mike) Foltz of Dennison; the mother of his children, Corrina Simplican VanFossen of New Philadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 in NewPointe Church, 3950 State Route 39, NW, Dover, Ohio 44622 where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 with Brett Faris officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport. Memorial contributions may be made to A Christmas To Cure Cancer, 5226 Columbine Courts, Columbus, Ohio 43230.
