Madolyn Maize Obituary

Madolyn Louise and Joseph Maize, Together Forever
Madolyn Louise Maize
Madolyn Louise "Lou" Maize, age 89, of Dover, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, in her home. Born Jan. 19, 1925, at Brave, Pa, she was a daughter of the late Gail and Pauline (Eddy) Wood. Lou graduated from Altoona (Pennsylvania) High School, and went to work as a secretary and newspaper reporter. During this time, she met a young sailor, Joseph F. Maize. The two fell in love and were wed on June 16, 1948 at Waynesburg, Pa. Lou and Joseph reared two sons and shared nearly fifty years of marriage prior to Joseph's passing on Feb. 15, 1998. Lou held several secretarial positions over her lifetime, including that of a secretary for Dover City Schools from which she retired after twenty-five years of service.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia for many years, but more recently attended the Foursquare Gospel Church at Dover. Lou loved people, and was especially fond of children and animals. She enjoyed music, theatre and all of the arts.
Survivors include her two sons, Jaf B. Maize of Dover, and Brian G. "Gil" (wife, Jamie) Maize of Daphne, Ala; her three grandchildren, Seth and Shane Maize of Daphne, and Amber Nycole Maize of Dover; and her nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, and her beloved husband, Joseph, Lou was preceded in death by her three sisters, Eleanor Bernhart, Dorothy Love and Emma Agnes Mason; and her two brothers, Maynard and Robert Gail Wood.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m., in the Foursquare Gospel Church, Dover, with Pastors Dennis Shearer and David Wing officiating. Directly after the service, there will be a luncheon in the church's Family Life Center. Family and friends are invited to call an hour prior to the service at the church. Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Lou's memory be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 6895 Dover Zoar Rd. N.E., Dover, Ohio 44622.

Jaf and Gil, so sorry for your loss, I never met your Mom, but she raised two great sons, that says something about her. She is with your Dad now, and they both will be watching over you and yours. My heart felt sympathies go out to you both. Love you brothers.
