Michael "Mouse" Burgan
46 of Sugarcreek died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 in Sandusky County following a scuba diving accident. He was born July 14, 1966 in Millersburg to Betty (Renner) Burgan of Sugarcreek and the late Archie Burgan Sr. He worked for the former Fiat Plumbing and Electric and farmed with the Rowe family for the past 25 years. Mike was a 20 year member of the Sugarcreek Fire and Rescue Dept. where he was lead Captain, an EMT with Swiss Valley Ambulance, member of the Ohio State Firefighters Association, Tuscarawas County Firefighters Association, Tuscarawas County RIT Team, a member of the Baltic Conservation Club and enjoyed hunting and shooting. He was married to the former Nancy Rowe on July 29, 1989 and she died Jan. 29, 1995.
He is survived by his fiance, Heather Eckert of Sugarcreek; daughter, Rachel Burgan of Sugarcreek; his brothers and sister, Roscoe G. (Peggy) Burgan of Wooster, Ray (Nancy) Burgan of Dover, William S. "Bill" (Vickie) Burgan of Stone Creek, Laura (Bob) Rowe and Archie Burgan, both of Sugarcreek; mother-in-law, Thelma Rowe of Sugarcreek; and brothers-in-law, William (Joann) Rowe of Dundee and Michael Rowe of Dublin. In addition to his father and wife, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, George Rowe.
Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Valley View Community Church, 2772 Simons Drive, Sugarcreek with Ed Butler, Chaplain of the Sugarcreek Fire Dept. officiating. Private family burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. at Valley View Community Church with a Firefighters Memorial Service to be held at 8 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek. For those unable to attend please visit the funeral home's website to share a memory and sign the guest register.
