Nigro, Sr.,
80, of the Schoenbrunn Health Care Center and formerly of Dover died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. Born May 14, 1932 in Dover he was a son of the late John and Edith Brown Nigro. Nick was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Delores Harding Nigro on Sept. 29, 2009 and his sister, Shirley Casella. Nick proudly served his country with the 7th Armored Division, Company C, stationed in the Aleutian Islands during the Korean War. Following the military he was employed with Douglas Aircraft in San Diego before moving back to Dover and operating the Sports Annex as well as being the business agent for Labors Local 134. As a graduate of Dover High School, Nick enjoyed watching his beloved Tornadoes at Crater Stadium and was proud to have been a season ticket holder since 1974. He was a 15 year member of the ADAMS Board, seven year member of the Emergency Management Board, co-founder of the Italian-American Festival Committee and was a past member of the Dover Tornado Club.
Nick is survived by his children, Angela Hochstetler of Virginia, Gina Garber of Tennessee, Nick (Ellen) Nigro, Jr., and John Nigro and his companion, Lisa Yaussy; sister, Joann Mathias all of Dover; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. There will be no public services or calling hours. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Memorial contributions can be made in Nick's name to the Italian-American Festival Committee Scholarship Fund.

nick nigro sr. was an admirable man. he fought for union rights in a time when that wasn't a popular sentiment.
nick sr. wasn't scared to express his opinion about anything.
he always spoke well of my family, and heaped so much verbal praise upon my deceased father jerry, i almost cried. my prayers go out to nick, angie, john, and gina. your parents are together again. cherish their memory.

i remeber nick and i went to get food for his dad , nick and i would go and vist him and talk to him . i love him and i miss him lots of love . i told my grandma nepsa and my dad what happend. my dad went to school with nick jr. i love helping nick sr and his son nick jr.
