Paul Heid Obituary

Paul Henry Heid, age 82, of Bolivar passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his home following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Doris "Dolly" (Farnsworth) Heid. Paul was a resident of the Bolivar area the majority of his life and was the son of the late Howard David and Ruth Estelle (Malcuit) Heid who were of the Bolivar area.
Paul was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, life member of DAV (Disabled American Vets), charter member of the Bolivar Army-Navy Club, and a life member of the Bolivar Sportsman's Club, worked 12 years for the Tuscarawas County Fair Board and was an active member of REACT for eight years. Paul had worked for LTV Steel while attending school at Bolivar High School. He spent a year in California helping to build the coastal highway Route 1. After returning to Ohio he worked as an independent trucker before being hired in at W&LE Railroad, and he retired from the N & W Railroad. Once he retired he pursued his love of farming on the family homestead at Bolivar. Paul also enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising pheasants and reading.
Paul married Doris "Dolly" Farnsworth on Sept. 12, 1950, in St. John Evangelical Church at Bolivar by Rev. Edgar W. Guinther. He is also survived by his children, Gail Lee Crawford, James Edward, and Marcine Louise (Alan) Mauger; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Alvin (Violet) Heid and Howard (Yusko) Heid Jr. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by an infant son, Gale Lee; and a sister, Marjorie Feather; and infant twin sisters, Ada and Ida Heid.
His funeral services will be on Friday, July 2, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the Lebold Funeral Home, Bolivar, O., where there will be calling hours from 2 to 6. At 6 p.m. there will be a military service conducted by the Bolivar American Legion Post 190. Officiating is Dr. Steve Gerig, and as to Paul's request he will be cremated following his service. The family request that donations be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd. St., Dover, O. 44622.
