Paul Fruchey Obituary

Paul Rodney "Rod" Fruchey
69, of Dover died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Born July 3, 1941 in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ralph Eugene and Margaret June Teeples Fruchey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Miller Fruchey, who died on Feb. 25, 1976. Paul graduated from Garaway High School in 1959. He served our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also loved traveling and mushroom hunting. He also cherished talking and telling stories with his friends and family. Paul retired from the former Invincible Vacuum in Dover, which became Invincible Airflow in Baltic. After retirement he worked part-time at Broadrun Cheese House in Dover. He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Dover.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Kathy Lawver Fruchey, whom he married on April 30, 1993. He also leaves behind his son, Kevin (Laurie) Fruchey of Strasburg; brother, Dick (Sandi) Fruchey of Riverton, Wyo.; sister, Bonnie (Ron) Workman of Port Clinton; his K9 companion, Koko; along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A celebration of Paul's life will take place on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Pastor David Wing officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens where the Dover VFW will conduct a military graveside service. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Foursquare Gospel Church in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. Those unable to attend, or who would like to sign an online guestbook may do so by clicking on the "obituaries" link on the funeral home's website. I worked with Paul for several years at Invincible and we talked a lot about hunting, fishing, etc. He taught me much about the industry and I enjoyed knowing him. When we'd run into each other after I left Invincible, he always remembered me and would take the time to speak. Paul was a very special person and I offer my heartfelt sympathy in this time of loss.
