Sandra L. Ball
68, of Bowerston, passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by her loved ones on Nov. 28, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. Born Dec. 24, 1944 in Geneva, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Claude and Myrtle (Steele) Benge. A resident of Bowerston for the past 20 years, she had previously lived in New York for many years where she worked as a home healthcare provider. She was Baptist by faith.
Sandra is survived by her first love and devoted companion of 25 years, Emanuel Howard Drennen, Sr. of the home; a daughter, Peggy (companion, Bill Hilliker) Vincent of Bowerston; sons, Scott (companion, Sharon Stitt) Benge of Bowerston and Emanuel Howard (companion, Kathy Phelps) Drennen, Jr. of Petersburg, Va.; grandchildren, Scott Benge, Jr., Crystal Benge, Pete Vincent, Justin Vincent and Danielle Vincent; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hayle, Mason, Logan, Owen, Brent and Aubrey; brother, Claude "Sonny" Benge, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Madeline Benge and Kim Drennen; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, the Ken Daniels family, Jeanne Rymer, the Steele family and Minerva Millman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Benge; sister, Dorothea Schetrompf; and niece, Patty Compson. Sandra's family also wish to acknowledge the excellent care that she received during her final illness with a very special thank you to Randi Marie Buress, and the Grace Hospice team, including Rev. Ed, Kristin the nurse and Kristin the social worker.
In keeping with Sandra's wishes, no public visitation is planned. A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Ed Morris, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in Bowerston's Longview Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the .
