Virginia A. Drabic
89, of Dennison, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 in Uhrichsville after a short battle with cancer. Born June 28, 1924 in Bannock, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel Gladys (Irwin) Gordon. Virginia was a resident of the Twin City area for most of her life and was a longtime member of the Dennison Church of God. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she was employed by a number of area nursing homes and managed a veteran's home in Dennison. She was a member of the Twin City AARP Chapter, as well as a former member of the Dennison Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Virginia loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours gardening, taking long walks and going for rides. Her greatest joy came from the time that she spent with her family, being with her daughters and, especially, her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald R. Parks, Sr.; her second husband, Eugene Drabic; sons, Donald R. Parks, Jr. and Frankie Joe Parks; a grandson, Robert Gastaldo, Jr.; a granddaughter, Kay Ann Parks; a great-grandchild; a brother, Harold Gordon; and a sister, Bitsy Bickerton. She is survived by four daughters, Darlene Gastaldo of Midvale, Marvella (Denny) Carpenter of Dennison, Nancy Lake of Dennison and Judy (Art) Reiser of Marietta; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Hawkins of Dennison; an uncle and aunt, Norman and Jackie Irwin of Chardon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services for Virginia, officiated by Pastor Dean Teal, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville's Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Virginia's memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Dennison Church of God.
