William Eugene "Bill" Minter
65, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at James Cancer CenterThe Ohio State University Wexner Center, Columbus, following a 23 month battle with leukemia. He was born July 7, 1948 in Gnadenhutten, son of the late Arthur Minter and Winoma (Clifton) Minter. Mr. Minter retired from the Cambridge Fire Department, where he had served from 1976 until his retirement in 2010. He held the position of fire chief from 1997 to 2010. He was the most decorated public servant in Cambridge's history. He was a member of the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, and also on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Firefighter Local #910, 902 Gaston Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725, for fire prevention and safety.
