William Harvey Myer
age 79, of 39650 Hanover Ridge Road, Scio died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 in Beacon Pointe Rehab Center, Uhrichsville, Ohio. He was born March 20, 1934, a son of the late William Joseph Myer and Mildred Virginia Weaver Myer. William attended Scio High School. He left school to go to work at Scio Pottery and on the family dairy farm. He also worked for Bedway Coal Mine, Hensen Ford Dealership in Cadiz, and returned to work at Scio Pottery. He retired from Scio Pottery approximately ten years ago where he worked as a truck driver hauling bags of cement to the area coal mines. He was a lifetime member of the Handyman Club.
His wife, Betty Louise Denning Myer died Sept. 9, 2009. They were married in June of 1966. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Amanda May Myer; and a sister, Mildred Jane Cooper. Surviving are six children, William Alfred (Kathy) Myer of Uhrichsville, Michael David Myer of Springfield, Ore., Connetta Ann Brownfield of Florida, Johnetta Jean (Bob) Harubin of Cadiz, Joseph James Myer of Empire, and Timothy Allen Myer of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and the mother of four of his children, Connie Jean Cooper Smith.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 in Koch Funeral Home, 101 East Main Street, Scio with visitation two hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m.. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County. Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport handled the arrangements.
