David Albert Parr
age 80, of West Lafayette, went home to be with the Lord and his loved ones that went before him on April 23, 2013. He was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, on Feb. 14, 1933, to the late John Albert and Mildred M. (Denzer) Parr. Dave graduated from Coshocton High School in 1952. He worked at Home Candy Co., Jones Metal, Chevrolet Garage and General Electric before he retired in 1994. Dave attended Keene United Methodist Church, he enjoyed traveling with his best friends after graduation before he married, tinkering in his garage, taking walks to visit with neighbors and friends, he enjoyed spending time with loved ones and his grandchildren, and Dave never knew a stranger. On April 9, 1971, he married his loving wife, Mary Lou (Price) Parr, with whom he just celebrated his 42 wedding anniversary.
Along with his wife, Dave is survived by his two daughters, Diana (Ron) Justice of Maumee, OH and Kerry Parr of West Lafayette; grandchildren, Harmony Alexis Barr whom he called Lexi, David Isaac and John Mark Justice; sisters-in- law, Winnie Tatten, Rosalie (Lucy) Fuller; and special friend Margo Hamilton. He is also survived by a long list of extended family. David's family was very broad because he didn't determine his relatives by those who were born into his family but by love instead. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Esther (Ugie) Parr; mother and father-in-law, Harry "Nib" and Mary (Nemeth) Price; brother-in-law, Fredrick (Fritz) Price; and a very special friend Maynard Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Given- Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Dairel Kiser officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April, 26 from 4-7:00 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Habitat for Humanity's Veteran's Build in honor of his beloved brother Jim who served in the Army or to Health Services, 230 S. 4th Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
