72, of Dennison passed away on Feb. 22, 2014 in Marco Island, Fla. surrounded by her loving family. Born May 11, 1941 in Chicago, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Robert Alfred and Edith Lillian (Ross) Miller. Barb had lived in the Twin Cities since childhood. Barb was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she loved to spend time with her family. She graduated from Dennison High School in 1959 and then attended Kent State University. Barb had worked at many jobs throughout her life, most recently as a home health care aid for her daughter's company, Ember Complete Care. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church. In 2006, Barb was named Twin City's senior citizen of the year. Barb was always present at her children and grandchildren's school events and was well known for her cooking. Whether it was cooking for family, friends, or the community, Barb's culinary talents will be sadly missed by many. She was known as Grandma Barb to everyone.
She is survived by Jerry Whitman; her children, Robert R. Whitman, of Dennison, Lois A. Grandison of Dennison with whom she resided, Brandon Whitman, of Uhrichsville, and Brenton (Valerie) Whitman of Uhrichsville; also, Jock Grandison, Sue Whitman, Debi Williams, and Michelle Stiffler; grandchildren, Bobby Whitman, Michelle (Skeeter) Dryden, Stephanie (Mick) Maple, Jason Donohoe, Shannon (Troy) Beckley, Lindsey (Brian) Preston, Mariah Whitman, Devin Whitman, Derek Whitman, and Brooke Whitman; great-grandchildren, Colin, Madison, Mercedes, Mason, Maddux, Makaya, Kennedy, Connor, Koi, Kinley, and Bre-ella; sisters, Linda Albaugh and Carolyn (Jerry) Riley, both of Dennison; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jim Albaugh and a grandson, Nathan Whitman.
Services for Barb, officiated by Pastor Randy Stull will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 27, 2014. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Following cremation she will be interred with her parents in Uhrichsville's Union Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to do so to the Rainbow Connection by mail or by calling in during the telethon on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 5-6 p.m. when her grandson Jason will be co-hosting.
