Clyde "Skeeter" Harper

73, of Dover and formerly of Strasburg and Newark, went to be with the Lord Sunday March 16, 2014 at 5:05 p.m., in Hennis Care Centre at Bolivar. Born Feb. 26, 1941, in Cambridge, he was a son of the late Clyde and Florence Harper. Skeeter worked as a purchasing agent in the tank business for many years, working lastly at Bulk Carriers in Midvale before his retirement. Skeeter was an avid hunter and fisherman and love spending time outdoors especially mowing grass on his Steiner mower. He also enjoyed helping everyone he knew work in their vehicles and projects at his house. He also loved to ride his 1979 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Skeeter dearly loved spending time with his family and friends anytime he could. He will be greatly remembered by many for his friendship and his famous turtle soup.
He will be sadly missed by his family including sons: Nick Harper, Mitch Harper and Alex Harper of Dundee, Randy (Shari) Harper of Strasburg, Tim (Mary) Harper of Newark and Mistie (Jamie) Hull of Newark; brothers, Bill (Ruth) Harper of Dover and Jim (Diane) Harper of Strasburg; and a sister, Ginger Downs of Newark. Also surviving are his close friends Jay Troyer, Melanie Robinson, Doug Detweiler; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Troy Harper; grandson, Bryan Harper; and a brother, Bob Harper.
Friends may call Wednesday March 19, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave. Bolivar. Private family graveside services will be held in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
