Nancy Mary Arnold
93, of Dennison, passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 21, 2014. Born Jan. 12, 1921 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Guilio and Louisa Gigette "Gigi" (Ianni) Martinelli. A lifelong resident of the area, Nancy was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in the class of 1939. She enjoyed participating in the life of her parish as a member of the church's Altar Society, as well as the alumni association. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Nancy had worked at the former Scio Pottery for 14 years. Nancy was known for her kindness and generosity, always giving what she could to those in need and especially to her monthly charities. Many a stranger entered her home and many left with a friend due to her loving nature and great sense of humor. She embraced her Italian heritage and loved to cook for all of her family and friends. Her love of cooking made her a mentor for her family seeking advice on how to recreate a number of her dishes. Nancy enjoyed reading and watching the beauty of nature, spending countless hours admiring the flowers and birds around her home. Nancy was a strong believer in the power of prayer. Her unwavering faith in God and all of his blessings made her a beacon of strength for her family. She would be proud to know that this part of her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
On April 30, 1946, Nancy married Frank S. Arnold with whom she enjoyed nearly 35 years of marriage until his passing Feb. 9, 1981. They are survived by a son, Earl F. (Barbara) Arnold of Dennison; a daughter, Barbara L. (Pip) Hill-Rickman of Coshocton; three grandchildren, Gregory (Tracy) Hill, Keith (Dana) Arnold and Jennifer (Joseph) Dodson; and six great-grandchildren, Hannah and Seth Hill, Francisco and Dominic Arnold, and Elena and Camila Dodson. Nancy is also survived by two nieces who were like daughters to her, Jeanette (Amos) Hostetter and Donna (Chuck) Edwards. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Guido "Guy" and William P. Martinelli, as well as her parents and husband.
Services for Nancy, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary's Cemetery near Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, during which time a 5:45 p.m. Christian Wake Service will be held. Those wishing to honor Nancy's memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church, 206 N. 1st St., Dennison, OH 44621 and the Twin City Christian Service Center Food Pantry, P.O.
