McCune
72, of Newark, Ohio, died Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014, at Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark. Born July 19, 1941, in Coshocton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Edward and Nannie (Craig) McCune; and was a 1960 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. Dick was very proud to be an American and he honorably served his country during the VietNam War serving in the 101st Airborne Division of the United State Army. He was employed for many years with the Kroger Company, working at the Heath, Ohio store for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Newcomerstown, the American Legion Post #85 of Newark; and he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his wife, Faye R. (Mitchell) McCune, whom he married Jan. 27, 1978; four daughters: Debra Mortine and Sharon Helmondollar, both of Newark, Dava Rich of Columbus, Ohio and Peggy Rich of Etna, Ohio; 12 grandchildren: Joshua, Daniele, David, Voniessa, Jennifer, Valerie, Nathan, Timathi, Shawn, Shane, Amber and Ashley; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Dorsey of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: George, Glenn and Jerry McCune and Kenneth Dorsey; and a sister, Joann Bixby.
Calling hours will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at the funeral home with the Rev. Matt VanWinkle officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
