87, of Carrollton, died on April 27, 2014 at the Carroll Golden Age Retreat. Born May 18, 1926 in Augusta, Ohio, she was the daughter of Chalmer and Icie Sell. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1944. Edith worked in the banking industry for over 40 years at the Cummings, First National, Harter, and Society Banks in Carrollton. After retirement from the banks she worked part-time at McFarlin's Office Supply Store.
She was married to Johnny Morvatz for 64 years until his death in Sept. 2009, and was the bookkeeper and treasurer for family businesses including Morvatz Sound & Photo Finish, John Morvatz Building and General Contracting, and the Silver Skate Roller Rink on the edge of Carrollton. Edith was a faithful member of the Carrollton United Presbyterian Church for over 70 years where she sang in the choir and served in many other capacities.
Besides her parents, Edith was preceded in death by an infant brother, Wilbur. She is survived by sisters, Viola Easterday, Wilma Shafer, Dolores Wagner all of Carrollton, Esther Sell of Lisbon; and brothers, Raymond Sell of Canton and Kenneth Sell of East Rochester. She is also survived by four sons, Jim (Sherry) of Dade City, Fla., David (Anna) of Savannah, Ga., Mike of Crystal River, Fla., Pat of Carrollton; and a daughter, Linda Fiscus of Ocean View, Del.; six grandchildren and several great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Mike Doak officiaitng. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to the
