Reverend Arthur E. (Bud) Carpenter
Beloved Pastor Bud Carpenter went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Country Club Retirement Campus of Dover. Bud, age 97 was born Dec. 11, 1916 in Uhrichsville, Ohio. to the late Arthur and Eva (Hines) Carpenter. Rev. Carpenter was a World War II veteran serving his country as an army chaplain and cook at Camp Livingston, La. and Fort Benning, Ga. He was the founder and former pastor of Richville Gospel Tabernacle where he pastored for 31 years. His missionary work was dear to his heart in Japan especially but also in China, Mexico, Okinawa, and Prince Edward Island. Bud received such a blessing ministering at the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center for many years and touching the lives of the young people. His jovial spirit and his love for people will be sorely missed.
Preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Wilson, Wilma Amicone, Betty Galay; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He is survived by wife, Helen C. (Meese) Carpenter with whom he celebrated 77 years of marriage on March 15, 2014; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Carpenter of Massillon; one daughter, Judy Timms of Celina, Tenn,; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Carpenter of California.
A memorial service will be at his former church now Open Bible Christian Center, 4177 Eldridge Ave SW, Massillon, OH. 44646, on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Knibbs and Pastor Russ Rodojev Jr. officiating.
