Bryan R. "Rusty" Grewell
17, of Newcomerstown, passed away. He was born June 26, 1997, in Westerville to
Bryan T. Grewell of Newcomerstown and Kelly (Rodgers) Johnson and husband, Steve of Fredericktown. He was a sophomore at Newcomerstown High School. He played Romeo in Ladies Sigh No More presented by NHS Thespians 2013. He was a two year percussion member of the NHS Trojan Marching Band. With guidance from his Grandpa Russ, Rusty helped complete many small wooden crosses which the family has given to others in his memory. He was continuing his interest in woodworking with his most notable recent accomplishment being a carved ornate walking cane which truly showed how gifted he was. Rusty was a friend to everyone and known for his shy smile as evidenced by the many accounts told by those who knew him.
In addition, Rusty enjoyed spending time with his dad fishing and sharing their wry sense of humor with each other. He was interested in science and recently was learning to play piano and guitar. In addition to his parents, he is survived by five brothers and sisters: Destiny Rodgers of Silver Springs, Md., Reese Patrick of Columbus, Cheyenne Patrick, Zeke Johnson and Heart Johnson all of Fredericktown; paternal grandmother, Donna (Jay "J.R.") Simmons of Stone Creek; paternal grandfather, Thomas (Tina) Grewell of Delaware; maternal grandparents, Russ and Betty Rodgers of Centerburg.
Visitation will be from at 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug, 23, 2014, at the Churches of Christ in Christian Union, 560 W. State St., Newcomerstown. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor James Reed officiating. There will be private graveside services.
