83, of Strasburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. Born June 4, 1928 at Dover, he was the son of the late Jacob A. and Selma Minger Miller. He retired from Canton Erectors where he worked as a crane operator, and had also previously been employed by Wallick's Coal. James proudly served our country in the South Pacific while enlisted in the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Mona D. Zeigler Miller, whom he wed on Jan. 28, 1949, and a number of other loving family members including five children, Liana McCoy of Strasburg, David Lee Miller of Brewster, Robin (Paul) McCoy of Beach City, Jay P. (Barb) of Canton and Tracy (Chuck) Steinmetz of Sugarcreek; grandchildren, Marcie and Natalie McCoy, Heidi (Brian) Galford, Gretchen (Mark) Kropp, Heather Miller, Matt McCoy, Edwin (Erica) McCoy, Matt and Mitchell Miller; a great-granddaughter, Miranda Liggett; and sister-in-law, Wanda Miller. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Jack Miller.
There are no services or calling hours. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover.
