Nina M. Strawser
age 89, of 133 Fifth Street N.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio, died early Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2012 her son's home in Sherrodsville following a brief illness. She was born April 17, 1923 in Little Orleans, Md. and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lottie Fletcher Imes. Her husband, Cecil F. Strawser, whom she married Dec. 29, 1940, passed away Jan. 9, 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Strawser, who died April 30, 1957; a granddaughter, Kelly R. Lewis; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Beth Fry; three brothers, Robert, Thomas, and Ellis Imes; two sisters, Mary L. Ohler and Leona Ross, and the grandparents who raised her, Frank and Rebecca Fletcher. She was a homemaker whose primary responsibility was being a mother to her children. And she performed this duty in such a fashion that it left her children with the indelible imprints of love and respect that will last them a lifetime. She was a faithful member of the God's Family Church at Dover. Nina was known as a doll collector and was also a knowledgeable collector of Native American paraphernalia. She relished the opportunities to receive and entertain visitors. In her quieter moments, she loved to read and was a fan of many American Movie Classics.
She is survived by her eight children, Mrs. Milton (Carol Jean) Burrier of Hillsboro, Ohio, Sharon Lee Reed of Belleview, Fla., Mrs. Bob (Linda Lou) Miller of New Philadelphia, Rev. Fred and Marilyn Strawser of Sherrodsville, Gary (Debbie) Strawser of Zanesville, Ohio, Roger Alan Strawser of New Philadelphia, Jeffrey Lynn (Katrina) Strawser of Weirsdale, Fla., and Lanny Strawser of New Philadelphia; 31 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, George (Brenda) Imes of Massillon, Ohio.

Interment will follow in the Leavittsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m. in the funeral home.
